Classification of Blogs & Opinion About the Most Appropriate Classification Approach.

Nowadays, there are many different types of blogs. According to Simons, pamphleteering blog is categorized as an old style blog that allows bloggers to write argumentative essay and to express their real thoughts on the current issues, like political blogs (Funnell 2008). Funnell (2008) indicated that there are a few different types of blogs like advocacy, personal, diary, advertisement and others. Diary and personal blog are the most popular blog types that public prefer to use to record their daily life and feelings.

                                                                       Political Blog

According to Walden and Thoms (2007, p.p18-19), classification of blog is based on the presentation or the writing style of the blog's contents. The authors have classified blogs as follows:

1. Vlog: Use the videos, images as the main content of the blogs. 

2. Linkblog: Sharing the links from other websites or blogs.

3. Moblog: Use the mobile device like handphone to write the blog.

4. Political blogs: About the elections and other political issues.

Miletsky (2010, p.126) also classified blogs as follows:

1．Personal blogs: daily feelings and thoughts.

2．Media blogs: mostly are written by newspapers and media.

3．Business blogs: Businesses use it to keep closed with customers

4．Microblogs: Writing down brief and short sentences about their expression.

There are many different types of blogs and most of them are mixtures of different types of blogs. I believe that the best classification tool is based on the writing styles and images that used in the blogs to determine what kind of blog there are. If the writing style is more handy and relating to daily life, then it is considered as a personal blog. If the writing style is more artistic and accompanied with more images, then it should be vlog. If a blog is full of business information and advertisements, it should belong to business blog.
